Our History and Background
From Vision to Reality: Shaping the Future of Robotics and STEAM in the Caribbean
The OECS Robotics Association (OECSRA) was founded by H.E. Dr. Ricardo R. Neil, who is also the founder of the St. Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association (SKNRA). Initially launched as a program under the SKNRA, the OECSRA was established to address the growing demand for robotics and STEAM education across the OECS countries. Due to the overwhelming interest and requests from various nations within the region, it became clear that the initiative needed to be expanded into its own independent organization.
Thus, the OECSRA was officially formed and launched on May 14, 2024, although the groundwork for the organization had been laid back in 2020. The mission behind its creation was to inspire and nurture a community of young innovators throughout the Eastern Caribbean, empowering them to develop the skills necessary to become future leaders in technology and innovation.
Over the years, the organization has grown significantly, expanding its programs, forging key partnerships, and becoming a recognized leader in robotics and STEAM education across the region. Through various initiatives, competitions, and collaborations, the OECSRA continues to inspire and equip young individuals to be pioneers in the technological world, shaping a sustainable and innovative future for the Caribbean.
